Posted Feb 17, 2019 Depressed Cake Shop Portland
Posted Feb 15, 2019 This weekend in #Portland Depressed Cake Shop is back, all to benefit Baby Blues Connection. This is a wonderful piece courtesy of Kptv 12 and we thank them for their support. If you are inspired to pop up your own shop please visit www.depressedcakeshop.com and find out how to join our family! P.S. A correction we need to point out: Emma Thomas is the originator of DCS. She founded it in London in 2013. Val has kept the flame burning and is the person who will be your contact if you want to get in touch.
Posted Feb 15, 2019 This Sunday it is all happening in #Portland! We are so proud of our partners at Baby Blues Connection. They have taken this concept so far and raised so much money and awareness. If you work for a mental health charity check out www.depressedcakeshop.com and think about creating your own pop up. All info and advice can be found on our site. ❤️
Posted Feb 13, 2019 Have you tried knitting yet? When I first started I had this exact same experience. It was 9/11 and it turned out to be the best antidote for my anxiety. I made tons of mistakes, but I just kept knitting. We love this piece by The Bloggess. If you find yourself inspired Purlsoho.com has the best kits with the prettiest yarn. ❤️
Posted Feb 11, 2019 Ok, I know this is not cake, but if you have spent any time on our website you know that we are big believers that any kind of creativity can be helpful when you are facing things like anxiety. For the last few months I have been practicing #watercolor and spending hours watching @skillshare tutorials on how to create repeating patterns on #photoshop. Tonight I finally figured it out! Behold, my first custom designed wrapping paper! Sounds kind of dorky, right? I am literally jumping with joy in my kitchen. There is a loud inner voice that is so mean to me, and tells me that spending a whole evening painting flowers and turning them into wrapping paper is not how I should be spending my time. But, here is what I know tonight. I accomplished something I set out to do. It is not going to change the world, but I am going to bed with a little spring in my step. If you want to make art just because it calms your restless mind, or better yet, distracts you from all of the awful, do it and tag us with your efforts. We would love to see what sets your heart on fire. ❤️ Special thanks to @jennarainey who is my spirit guide on all things #watercolor with her book #everydaywatercolor and @allikdesign for her books #floralsbyhand and #modernflorals. They have been my constant companions and more comfort than you will ever know.

Posted Jan 28, 2019 So...much...this... Making things is so therapeutic. We often shy away from crafts and hobbies that would provide so much good for us because they won't come out as well as the photos on someone else's Instagram. Paint that picture, knit that scarf, bake that cake. Do it for yourself because it brings you joy or helps you manage your anxiety, or both! The process is as important as the result. ❤️
