Posted Jan 16, 2019 Looking for something to post today but alas no cakes were available. So, since today is my second watercolor lesson I thought I would show you something sweet. Watercolor is a new hobby, but I started oil painting as a child. My weekly painting lessons were my salvation. I was incredibly shy so school was not easy for me socially. But, a studio full of adults, all painting together was my sanctuary. Last year I could not find the inspiration to go back to working on my art practice. I vowed that this year would be different. This series of photos shows a painting I did as a little girl alongside my goddaughter who has been a gift in my life that her parents may never fully understand. As a girl I apparently knew she would someday appear to be my soulmate in so many things, including our shared live for temporary tattoos. There is no deep lesson here. If I take away anything from unearthing that little painting from long ago it is that you never know who in your life will help you heal, but maybe you suspected they would appear all along. Wish me luck today at school. As many children do, I lost a lot of confidence in my skills as a teenager and gave up drawing and painting for a long time. 2019 us the year I reclaim it all. My wish for all of you is that you find something to be excited about, something that is yours alone. When you do, share it with us. ❤️
Posted Jan 14, 2019 Your faithful correspondent from first Facebook photo to now. It's been a long decade (to put it mildly), but very proud of all that has been accomplished by the army of magical souls who have supported #depressedcakeshop over the last five years. Big thanks to all of you, and who needs blonde streaks and makeup when you have a fab DCS shirt to call your own. ❤️
Posted Jan 13, 2019 Have not been baking so much lately, but watercolor has become a very welcome distraction. It turns out whenever something emerges that feels like a step forward it has an element of gray, and these also have a pop of color. Still wading through some stuff, but keeping creativity as a daily practice, and that really does help. ❤️ #everydaywatercolor
